'3 Idiots' breaks records

Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama “3 Idiots” has created a record by grossing over Rs. 100 crores in its first four days. Reliance BIG Entertainment, distributor of the film, released about 2,000 prints across 40 countries.

Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller “Five Point Someone”, the film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani.


Released Friday, its box-office collection has beaten the initial earnings of another Aamir starrer “Ghajini”, considered Hindi cinema’s highest grosser till date, with 30 percent more earnings till Sunday night. The film, which reportedly cost Rs. 80-100 crores, also stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles.

Farah Khan rubbishes rift with Shahrukh

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan and actor Shahrukh Khan have been the best of friends for years but recently the rumour blew up that they were no longer friends. The news caught fire when Farah Khan dropped King Khan from her new project, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and opted for Akshay Kumar. However, it was also said that Farah Khan was not happy with Shahrukh Khan as he had been delaying her other project, ‘Happy New Year’ for a long time.

The news about their differences was confirmed when Shahrukh Khan did not turn up for Farah Khan’s lingerie show. But now Farah has put all those rumours to rest by accompanying Gauri Khan to the screening of James Cameron's Avatar. The special screening was arranged by Shahrukh for his children and close friends. Present at the occasion were Farah Khan, Karan Johar and Javed Akhtar.

It seems now things have come to the right track.

Sushmita becomes MOM again !

Ex Miss Universe and bollywood actress Sushmita Sen already has an adopted daughter Renee, and the latest buzz is that she has adopted a child, yet again. For Sush motherhood is very special and she wanted to become a mother all over again. She has named her second daughter Alisah, which in Greek means joyful. Sushmita has been shopping for clothes and toys for Alisah.
Alisah was made to sleep with Renee for the first two weeks but now she has a room of her own.The earlier rule of High Court was that if you have adopted a girl as your first baby, you can’t adopt another girl child. And Sush wanted a girl. But three months ago, the High Court changed the ruling. Sushmita is now very happy talking about her child and latest release Dulha Mil Gaya. Hope Alisah brings her good fortune for Dulha Mil Gaya!

'Raajneeti' first promo to release with '3 Idiots'

Everyone's keenly awaiting Prakash Jha's multi-starrer RAAJNEETI. It goes without saying that this is one of those keenly anticipated films of 2010 [it's slated for release in May]. While Prakash Jha had officially announced the release date of the film a month ago, one would be able to watch the first look of the film next week - almost five months before the film releases.

Yes, the first promo of RAAJNEETI will be unveiled with the prints of 3 IDIOTS next Friday. Reportedly, RAAJNEETI is the present-day adaptation of Mahabharata.

When Salman-Ash looked into each others eyes

When you get out of any relationship, you feel awkward to cross each others paths. Recently Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were caught in a similar situation when they got face-to-face with each other during the shooting of their respective films at Mehboob studios.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dropped int o the studio to shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Guzzarish’ while Salman was there to shoot the promo for ‘Veer’. It so happened that Salman stepped out of his car and was talking on the phone and Ash had just wrapped her shooting and was getting out of the studio and approaching her van. They looked at each others eyes and immediately turned their faces.

A source says, "They did look into each others eyes for a moment and then immediately turned the other way!"

Ash left the spot while Salman looked a bit disturbed. "Post the incident, Salman wasn't too keen to shoot, but did so anyway, and didn't speak too much”, according to a source.

My Name is Khan- First Look Promo

Audiences are waiting with deep breath to see the golden jodi of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol to ablaze the silver screen again. Their much awaited flick, ‘My Name Is Khan’ is slated to release and the first look of the film has been unveiled in a grand way at Mumbai’s J W Marriott on Thursday.

Kajol and Shah Rukh graced the event in a black saree n a black suit respectively. In the film, Shah Rukh Khan plays the character of Rizwan Khan who suffers from aspergers syndrome. The movie is based on 9/11 terror attacks.

“It is very different from other KJO films” said Shah Rukh. Speaking about working with SRK, Kajol said, “Shah Rukh is like a bad habit. Once you work with him you are spoilt”.

Karan said that working with Shah Rukh is like a family affair. “It’s like working with family. Two brothers start a company, two brothers build it up and maintain their family and working unit together,” says Johar.

“I want to be a porn star” Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan shocked one and all when he said that he wants to be a porn star. This humorous comment has been made by him in the national capital while launching the management guru Arindam Chaudhuri’s latest book ‘Discover The Diamond In You’. He said “I am going to work very hard, positively with clarity to be a porn star.” At first the audience were a bit confused hearing his statement but later they burst into laughter.

Shahrukh Khan even said that “Chauduhri claimed that one can read the book in 59 minutes”, but he had read the book in just 45 minutes. In his humorous style, he addressed the audience and said that Arindam’s picture on the cover page was a bad one and he offered himself the management guru’s PR next time. He ended the meeting in his own style, “The next time you hear about me when I am back in Mumbai, I will be the worlds biggest porn star.”

‘Race 2′ to go on floors with Saif and Anil

If super-hit film “Race” had lots of suspense and stunts, its producer Ramesh Taurani promises more thrills and action in its sequel “Race 2″ that will go on floors early next year with Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor playing the main leads.
The sequel will be directed by Abbas-Mustan, who had made the 2007 hit “Race”, but Taurani is tight-lipped about the leading ladies and whether Kareena Kapoor would be signed on for the sequel.
“In February or March 2010 ‘Race 2′ will go on floors. The film will certainly be bigger and better than the first part. If you thought that the twists and turns in ‘Race’ were deadly, then watch out for the sequel.

Kat dolls now in market

The Katrina Kaif doll from Barbie had arrived in the city over a week ago, but the busy actress has not got a chance to see it yet as she has been traveling. She has been a part of the doll-making process though and the experience for her has been quite fascinating.

She stated that she was really looking forward to seeing it as soon as she gets back.

The doll has been designed in likeness of Kat from the "All Doll'd Up" show held earlier this year to mark the brand's 50th birthday celebrations in India.
The actress is slated to launch the dolls in December. It's going to be quite a treat for all the Katrina fans... if you can't have her, atleast you can have her doll! And this time around, you can be sure there'll be tons of guys queuing up to buy the dolls as well! ;)

Tanaaz wants to slap Rohit

TV actress Tanaaz Currim who was recently voted out from Bigg Boss is furious over fashion designer Rohit Verma. She wants to go back and slap him. "Rohit has enraged me so much wit his attitude and backbiting on the show that I really want to go back and slap him for ruining my name," said Tanaaz.
At first Tanaaz and Bakhtiyaar gelled very well with Rohit but later they turned foe. "I am amazed to know what all he (Verma) said behind our backs. What is he? Who is he? He says he is a well known fashion designer, but he should see what he's wearing. I'll be obliged to know another person who wears Rohit Verma creations other then himself," said Tanaaz.
"There is not one thing to like about him. What can i like about him?," she added. Tanaaz desires to go back to the show with a wild card entry to put people in their places. "I am hopeful about re-entering the show through a wild card entry so that I can teach them a lesson. They really need to put in their places," she said.
Tanaaz is happy that she returned to her son Zeus and at the same time hopes that Bakhtiyaar wins the show

Slumdog Millionaire bags eight Academy Awards

This morning most of India woke up early to watch Slumdog Millionaire’s fate unfold. Ultimately, it turned out to be day for “Slumdog Millionaire” at 81st Oscar award ceremony, where the movie based on the plot of Mumbai, surrounded around a slum boy’s tale of rising from rag to riches bagged eight Oscars out of 10 nominated categories.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won Best Cinematography for Anthony Dod Mantle, Best Writing and Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy , Best Sound for Resul Pookutty, Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke, Best editing for Chris Dickens, Best Original Score and Best Original Song for A. R. Rehman. The movie also won the coveted Best Motion picture and Best director for Danny Boyle.

Hopefully these accolades will ensure the postive move of Bollywood from conventional dance-song dramas to world class cinema. Maybe even the quality of performers will improve. The untainted Frieda Pinto presented an award for Best Foreign film with extreme class. Watching A.R. Rehman jamming with Peter Gabriel was surreal and it was obvious that everybody involved with Slumdog couldn’t contain their excitement when the movie won Best picture. Everyone was onstage elated. Congratulations to them all.
