I think we’d get mixed responses to such a question - the film’s obviously a hit but can the adolescent flower-peddling newcomers carry the audience through another three hours? At this point, I’d say no. Director Abbas Tyrewala has been thinking about a second installment for the film but will not be working on it any time soon. His focus is now shifting towards more mature romantic comedies, where 20 and 30 something’s can hold hands in the darkness of the theatre and wonder what went wrong. But lets hope he reverses the tried and test Chopra and Johar cliches of mustard field dances, disapproving families and camera turning round and round sequences relentless enough to make Neil Armstrong throw up all over himself. Lets hope he comes up with something fresh.
Is the world ready for a Jaane Tu sequel?
The Jaane tu star Imraan Khan seems to be following in his uncle’s steps and said that he would not be interested into doing a Jaane Tu sequel unless the script is worth it. Even though all this sounds very nice and practical, i cant seem to get one terrifying thought out of my head. Somewhere, in some deserted back alley where he wakes up and remembers nothing of the previous night, Harry Baweja has read this piece of news in the papers he’s wrapped in and is laughing like a lunatic, thinking of his very own sequel…….(Evil music begins) …Love Story 2051????
