Rockin’ with the Magik Band

With the release of Abhishek Kapoor’s Rock On around the corner, the cast is gearing up to play live shows in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi. As frightening as the prospect of Farhan Akhtar, Luke Kenny, Purab Kohli and Arjun Rampal acting together is, the concerts may not be too bad. Farhan has sung six out of the nine songs in the film, Luke has worked on his keyboard playing skills with Loy, Purab has taken drum lessons from Lindsay D’mello and Arjun has honed his guitaring skills with Dream Out Loud guitarist, Chandresh Kudwa’s help.

All this was done so that the whole movie seems ‘authentic’ and not another case of holding one note on the guitar and break-dancing while some poor sessions artist plays a ear-splitting solo in the background. It’s been four months since the Magik Band, as they call themselves, have started rehearsing together, so we can expect at least some amount of chemistry when they play live. In any case, they might as well put their best foot forward,if the movie flops- they can recover the money by playing music at street corners
