Indian Int’l Flop Awards!!

 Indian Intl Flop Awards!!!
Aaya aur gaya!! Never has Bollywood been at its shoddy worst as at the IIFA awards 2008. With lackluster stars in strange locations and with a public far removed from their screen idols and a general non-comprehension of quintessential Bollywood-ism, the IIFA awards lacked the necessary glamour-shamour proving yet again that big stars do not glamour bring!

With huge names performing on stage, one expected an explosion of talent and beautiful people but all one got to see was loud sets, bad costumes, bad choreography and boring acts. Kareena Kapoor who was expected to set the stage on fire was like a wet blanket with her lack of latka-jhatkas and yucky costume. The cheap looking rags that covered her were not what one would have expected to be put on one of the most talked about bodies in the business.

The saving grace of the show of course were Kat and Akshay yet again living up to their reputation of hit-makers. Priyanka was as off-colour as she could get (Maybe she missed her red hair?!!). An over the top Diya Mirza and a haggard looking Urmila did nothing to add to the evening.

The highlight of the evening were the blushing couples that Bollywood is so suddenly abound with after years of xenophobia towards fellow-industry-wallahs. Ranbir-Deepika looked so cute together as did Akshay and Twinkle. As for Abhi-Ash, we think they’re simply over-exposed now!

Apna desi Filmfare Awards, our sasta, sundar tikau version of the film frat awards has been more interesting surely than the big budget, high power and low energy IIFAs. Surely history counts?
