'Funcy' Town

The music scene in Mumbai is fast changing from the good ole ‘old time Rock ‘n’ Roll’ to electronica (No not trance, electronica)
Lets just say that last night’s gig at D Ultimate Club spelt that out loud and clear!

The night began with ‘Medusa‘ bringing the roof down with their new sound and restored bassist.
The crowd was going wild, the alcohol was flowing, the match was on in the background and ‘Anticoke Ganpati’ blaring in the foreground! Sounds fun? It sure as hell was! Did you know that Medusa is one of the youngest bands to be as successful as they are?
Big secret: A little birdy told us that their next album may be produced by an international label! We’re not revealing who it belongs to.

After Medusa came Shaa’ir + Func. For those of you who don’t know, Shaa’ir + Func was formed by Randolf of Pentagram and his girlfriend Monica Dogra ( the only couple that seems so compatible, even at work!)
The energy on stage was so vibrant, it had everyone infected within minutes! Monica looked stunning as always and Randolf was cool… as always. Their album can be very misleading- it’s nothing compared to how good they sound on stage!
Trivia: Anand Subaiya, editor of Don and Being Cyrus Plays Bass guitar for Shaa’ir + Func as a hobby!

‘Pentagram‘ concluded the night and had the crowd eating from their hands- as usual! As ‘Badman’ played, (and by ‘badman’ I don’t mean Gulshan Grover) the crowd could hardly contain themselves as they were jumping on stage and moshing like never before.
Vishal and Randolf stole the show and ‘Electric’ still remains the people’s favourite!
Trivia: Vishal is Vishal Dadlani who, along with Shekhar has done the music for movies like Don, Jhankaar Beats, Om Shanti Om, etc.
I have to compliment Only Much Louder (OML) for organising a mind blowing gig with great sound and a super atmosphere.
All in all, I’m glad I went and ‘I’d do it again to make it last!’
