Singh Is Kinng - Preview

Shot in Punjab, Australia and Egypt, ‘Singh is Kinng’ is the most awaited rom-com of 2008. Superstar-action hero Akshay Kumar is back in ‘action’ when he plays the role of Happy Singh from Punjab who causes nothing but disaster to his village which in turn leads his fellow villagers to pack him off to Australia in order to keep him out of their hair. His mission,they say, is to bring back the notorious Australian gangster, Lakhan Singh aka Lucky (Sonu Sood) back to Punjab and prevent him from spoiling the image of their people abroad.

After he sets out, meets the girl of his dreams (Katrina Kaif), a mother-figure (Kirron Kher) and a series of catastrophes. He ends up rescuing Lucky from the realms of death. This turns out all the worse for him because Lucky ends up in hospital and Happy in expected to take his place as the ‘Kinng’!

Akki has always been a better comedian than an action hero to some and vice-versa to others.This role combines the two. I wonder what to expect from him playing a comedy-mafia-cop character. Akki in a turban?! Now that’s something we’ve never seen before (but will be happy to lap up!). Right now Kumar is filming a special international promotional video with rapper extraordinaire Snoop Dogg.

This movie comes from the stable of Vipul Shah and Anees Bazmee- the makers of ‘Aankhen’, ‘Waqt’, ‘Namastey London’, ‘No Entry’ and ‘Welcome’. Given this, I think we can expect big things from ‘Singh is Kinng’!
