Qurbani turns Kurbani…

 Qurbani turns Kurbani...

Bad News People!!Another remake is on its way…..its like every 2 months we are given a dose of the age old good films through crappy remakes. Feroz Khan’s 1980 blockbuster Qurbani remake is reportedly going to be directed by Sanjay Gupta.

Feroz Khan over the years has always planned to make the remake one day.

He had grand plans of casting his son Fardeen and Saif Ali Khan in the roles originally played by himself and Vinod Khanna. This is one of his dreams to remake Qurbani, which is now titled Kurbani. Sources reveal that if Gupta hadn’t come forward to take on the responsibility, the project would have gone into the cold storage.

Gupta, a die hard Feroz Khan fan himself, wants to pay a tribute to one of his favourite films of all time. He says,’Through this remake i want to pay a tribute to the 1980s, to the films I have always admired’.Feroz Khan was so much impressed by Gupta’s enthusiasm that he decided to produce the new Kurbani jointly with him. Last I heard of something like this was when Ramu wanted to pay tribute to Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay. The rest,as they say is history.

Presently, Fardeen is slated to step into his father’s role. The actor has been in the news lately for his involvement in another Sanjay Gupta project ‘Acid Factory’, where they promoted their film all over Bangkok in the IIFA weekend. The stars to play the roles originally played by Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman and Amjad Khan have yet to be decided. Gupta had the choice of casting Vinod’s and Amjad’s sons but he found the idea too shady. However, he is not too keen about it. Mallika Sherawat might play Zeenat Aman’s role.(Nice!!)

Apparently, some of Qurbani’s original music by Kalyanji-Anandji and Biddu, including ‘Aap Jaisa Meri Koi Zindagi Mein Aaye’ and ‘Har Kisiko Nahin Milta’, will be retained. Lets hope that Feroz Khan and Sanjay Gupta show us what kind of a tribute they can give to a brilliant film.
